My Review:

Opal of Light is an exciting fantasy story about a Keeper named Orlla and her role to protect the magical opal stone. The era of dragons is over, at least that's what everyone thinks. But when war is eminent, things change. The opal stone calls to Orlla and she must make difficult decisions. Outcomes don't always happen as expected.

One thing that bothered me was that Orlla puts her mentor's life on the line to track down her run-away brother and when she doesn't get back in time, she doesn't really give him another thought until much later. I also found that the dialogue gets a bit laborious in places. Things get rehashed between characters that the reader already knows.

Overall, it is a page-turner of a story! It kept my attention from beginning to end. It has a good stopping point, where you can take a breath before diving into Onyx of Darkness, the second book in the series.

Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
