Parade Day and More with #Linky

Welcome to my Picture Perfect

We are at the end of the school year with the kids in their fourth term. The high school where my teenagers are at has a 102 year-old tradition called Parade Day for the graduating class. When it was Jeremiah's Parade Day, it was their 100th anniversary.

The final exams are about to begin, but Jessica's Parade Day and graduation ceremony was already last week Friday. In South Africa, the matrics (seniors) will only get their final results in the new year when they are officially out of school.

There has been rioting at the universities in regards to the increase in fees. Thankfully, it looks like our son will be able to finish his second year. At his university things have quietened down for the most part. There is still a lot of uncertainty about next year and some universities aren't handing out acceptance letters because of it.

Day 2 and 3 of Samantha's Bedroom Make-Over

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #193!

Samantha turned 16 on Sunday! As a birthday gift, she got a bedroom make-over that she helped her dad with. It used to be her brother's room, and it always looked like a boy's room, but not anymore! She chose the paint with her dad, the vanity (it was second-hand) and the little closet. The bed and dresser drawers were already part of her room. They painted the walls with three coats of paint. She had a clear idea in her mind what colors she wanted for the bedding, so I took her shopping and this is what she chose. Maybe we can add some art for Christmas!

Elphie Goes Trick or Treating

Elphie Goes Trick or Treating
by Hagit R. and Or Oron

About the Book:

Elphie wants to dress as a tiger-elephant, but he’s also scared from the image he sees in the mirror. Phante doesn’t care. She just wants to go trick or treating before all the good candies are gone. But then Elphie gets all the special treats and Phante is upset. Fortunately, Elphie has a superpower that makes everything OK. Phante has a superpower too. Read the book and find out how she helps Elphie overcome his fears.

This Halloween story emphasizes good values like kindness and courage and makes them a superpower. Read the book and teach your kids that the sweetness of friendship lasts longer than that of a sugar-coated candy.

Here's a Peek Inside:

My Review:

Elphie Goes Trick or Treating is a cute Halloween story that teaches kindness, friendship, acceptance, and courage. Elphie and Phante have a unique Halloween adventure together. Kids often see things differently to adults, and that is certainly true of Elphie and Phante. I enjoyed the story more, because I didn't know what to expect from them.

Amanda giggled when Elphie told his mom what he thought about his tiger-elephant costume. Then she noticed that Elphie is standing at the mirror with his hands and legs down, but his reflection has his hands and one leg up. We both figured that this would scare him! Amanda liked how both characters responded differently to the same situations and how they handled each other. This picture book is perfect for boys and girls ages 3 - 7.

Day 1 of Samantha's Bedroom Make-Over

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #192!

Samantha is turning 16 on Sunday! As a birthday gift, she is getting a bedroom make-over. She has the smallest bedroom in the house, but she also has the best view. It used to be her brother's room and it still looked like a boy's room. We gave him the guest room, since he's only home during term breaks, and it has an en-suite.

Samantha was very involved in shopping around with her dad for paint and a couple pieces of furniture. She carefully measured and drew the lay-out of her room. Before the new furniture arrived, they painted the walls. It took them three coats of paint to cover the light-blue that was there. Pop back next Friday to see more!
