Merry Christmas and a Linky!

My daughter, Samantha, made both of these Christmas-themed digital art drawings recently. She gave me permission to share them. I'm including a photo of her below her art.

We'll be visiting my in-laws for Christmas on South Africa's West Coast. I decided to make this my last blog post and blog hop for 2021. The blog hop will close on Monday the 20th, the day that we travel to my in-laws.

Wishing you a safe & blessed Christmas and New Year!

Wishing Against the House

Wishing Against the House
by Janeen Ippolito

Book Description:

My city is under attack by shadowfiends. Apparently, this is my fault, thanks to the family I’ve never met.

At least the attack interrupted my first couples therapy session with Cendric. Small blessings, right?

Then my long-lost dad—yeah, the one that’s supposed to be dead—shows up to tell me that the shadowfiends are controlled by Raith, an old family member who’s here to recharge his magical batteries by any means necessary, including destroying Pittsburgh and me. Oh, and centuries ago, Raith picked a fight with the local dragons, so they’re after me as well.

Now I have to learn my family’s magic, stop Raith's path of destruction, and make nice with the dragons. Speaking of which, did I mention my oh-so-quiet secretary has eloped with one of the dragons’ worst enemies?

Personally, all I want for Christmas is to survive until New Year’s.
And maybe, a vacation.

My Review:

Wishing Against the House is the third book in The Steel City Genie series by Janeen Ippolito. This story has plenty of suspense, action, and tongue-in-cheek humor. There is never a dull moment! It has a full cast of characters, so be sure to read the books in order if you don't want to get confused.

Allis has always had a rough time, especially with family. Now she's faced with more family drama, and she gets blamed for their bad behavior. But Allis has the help of her husband Cendric and her half-brother Gideon, plus two or three other allies. It can't be all bad. Until all the bad comes calling, interrupting couple's counseling. How will Allis handle things, especially when she has unstable magic and emotional issues? And, what about that couple's counseling session?

Disclosure: I received an ARC, and this is my voluntary review.

Quote from Wishing Against the House:

"If I break, I get up again afterwards. It’s what I do."

Allis and Cendric from The Steel City Genie series! Art by the amazing Inscape.Studio

Allis - blue-collar half-genie who gets into trouble even when she's mostly trying not to (ha)

Cendric - vegetarian vampire lawyer (was a raven shifter) who helps her get out of that trouble (or just joins her in it, he's fine with that too)

My Son Turned 25 and a Linky!

My son turned 25 on the first of December! It was great to have Jeremiah home for a few days. We are also dog sitting my in-laws' Miniature Schnauzer, Ziggy. Jeremiah has been fortunate to have a steady job in IT during this pandemic. He usually has a bushy beard, but he came home clean-shaven. I made sure to get a couple of photos before he left!
