The Change
Book 1 in the
Unbounded Series
About the Book:
Title: The Change | Author: Teyla Branton | Publisher: White Star Press | Pages: 358 | Genre: Urban Fantasy
Book Description:
Death, Life, or Love—Unbounded Always Play for Keeps
There are only two ways to kill Unbounded, and fire isn’t one of them—as law school dropout Erin Radkey learns the hard way. By fluke of a recessive gene, she has become Unbounded, a nearly immortal being with paranormal abilities.
Erin’s Change separates her from her loved ones and alters everything she believes to be true. A week earlier she was considering a marriage proposal; now she contemplates the best way to stay alive. Caught in a battle between two Unbounded groups, the Emporium and the Renegades, she is also hunted by a secret mortal society sworn to eradicate the Unbounded gene.
As Erin plunges into this dangerous new life, she must carve out her own place in the madness, protect her mortal family, and decide which group she should join. Her unique ability is vital to both groups in the race to secure an identification software that spells death for all Unbounded—or enslavement for the entire mortal world. Some will stop at nothing to use Erin as one more pawn in a battle that has spanned centuries. Erin’s undeniable attraction to Ritter Langton, whose family was massacred by opposing Unbounded two hundred and forty years ago, complicates her choices. There are no second chances. Death, life, or love—Unbounded always play for keeps.
Non-stop action, terrifying consequences, and powerful romance make The Change an exciting addition to the world of romantic urban fantasy.

My Review
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this action-packed urban fantasy novel, The Change. The characters were complex and the plot was unique with several twists. You don't always know who you can trust. At one point it was obvious that someone wasn't to be trusted, but the author had Erin not suspect anything. That did annoy me. However, Erin was a great protagonist and I want to read more of her. I also fell in love with one male Unbounded and one male mortal. I don't want to give names away, because I don't want to spoil anything. The story contains violence, but it wasn't overly dark. It's got all the right romance elements too. I highly recommend it for teens to adult.
Ava's Revenge
Book 7 in the
Unbounded Series
About the Book:
Title: Ava's Revenge | Author: Teyla Branton | Publisher: White Star Press | Pages: 140 | Genre: Dark Historical Fantasy
Book Description:
To Seek Revenge, The First Step is to Survive
Ava O’Hare just wanted to love her child and live in peace, but a normal life was never her destiny. One stark day in 1745, everything she loved was taken from her, ripped away by the very man who should have protected her.
Somehow, miraculously, Ava survived.
Now it was time for revenge.
Long before Ava O’Hare became the successful leader of a modern-day Renegade cell, she had other battles to fight. If you’ve enjoyed the Unbounded series, you will love this extra peek into the events that shaped Ava’s life and made her a Guardian of Humanity.
Please note: Ava’s Revenge is not as long as the books from Erin's viewpoint. It is a tie-in to the series and can be enjoyed at any time. However, the last scene is present day and fits into the Unbounded timeline just after the end of The Change (Unbounded Book 1), so readers may better appreciate Ava’s Revenge after reading the first book.

Ava's Revenge
My Review
Ava's Revenge is an Unbounded novella and should be read after The Change (Book 1). It takes place in the past and continues a bit after the last chapter of Book 1. The genre is dark historical fantasy. The story is from Ava's point of view and definitely in keeping with the character of Ava. I became impressed with her character after reading Ava's Revenge. In the first book I pictured a matriarchal aunt, but now she is so much more than that!
The story moves quickly, the plot is well thought out, and the characters are interesting. Please read with caution as some violent scenes describe sexual assault and a baby is murdered. I highly recommend this book, but it's not appropriate for everyone even though it does fall under young adult fiction.
About the Author:
Teyla Branton
International bestselling author Teyla Branton grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy and watching Star Trek reruns with her large family. They lived on a little farm where she loved to visit the solitary cow and collect (and juggle) the eggs, usually making it back to the house with most of them intact. On that same farm she once owned thirty-three gerbils and eighteen cats, not a good mix, as it turns out. Teyla always had her nose in a book and daydreamed about someday creating her own worlds. She is now married, mostly grown up, and has seven kids, including a five-year-old, so life at her house can be very interesting (and loud), but writing keeps her sane. She thrives on the energy, inspiration, and daily amusement offered by her children. Grabbing any snatch of free time from her hectic life, Teyla writes novels, often with a child on her lap. She loves guns, martial arts, and belly dancing. Teyla writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, and science fiction. She also writes romance and romantic suspense under the name Rachel Branton.
