Wildfire and a Linky

We watched a wildfire from our balcony at the end of March. These photos were taken from the evening of the first day and a few mornings later when it started up again. It’s not uncommon to see a fire from our home, since we live so close to the veld. I took these pics with my Canon PowerShot and 40X optical zoom. It’s a compact little camera that packs a punch.

So those are more like grassland fires than forest fires? I hope they're less dangerous and easier to control. It's a bit scary that you can see them fairly often, the only thing I see or rather smell are the controlled burns at the state park (now closed) down the way. You sure have a fine looking family. I have one of the first Canon PS that I can't make myself give up (if only I could find the battery charger).

In our area, we have eucalyptus trees (originally from Australia) and a few other trees, but it’s mostly grasslands, if it isn’t being farmed.

Maybe you can look online for a secondhand battery charger. My first Canon PS was stolen when we were burgled a few years ago. My in-laws originally gifted me that one. Then about a year or two after my camera was stolen, they gifted me with a second one. I realize that it cost them a chunk of money and I’m truly grateful for it.

We have a good-sized fire department, so it’s probably good practice for them.😄 But I do care about firefighters. When the winds are blowing, I’m especially aware of the risk and then I pray for their safety and favorable winds. Keep safe and take care!
