Happy Halloween and a Linky

I chose today's photos because the colors are on the orange spectrum and orange reminds me of Halloween. The two flower photos were taken at home on the balcony. The other four photos were taken at a church bazaar this past Saturday. I'm posting this early to wish everyone a Happy Halloween. Whether you celebrate it or not, I wish you a great day and week ahead!

Druid Warrior Prince

Druid Warrior Prince

Druid Warrior Prince (Celtic Stewards Chronicles Book 3) by [Revezzo, Juli D.]

About the Book:

Title: Druid Warrior Prince (Celtic Stewards Chronicles Book 3) | Author: Juli D. Revezzo | Pages: 307 | Genre: Medieval Romance | Recommended Age: New Adult

Book Description:

Gwenevieve Macken’s well-ordered world falls into chaos as encroaching interlopers scheme to possess both her and her land. Although she’s been trained to spot the signs of inhuman evil in men, the amassing armies take on guises she never expected.

When a foreign guardian presents himself as her only option for salvation, Gwenevieve must make a choice between her desires, and fulfilling the mythic fate to which she was born. A forced marriage to a Tuatha dé Danann warrior isn't part of her plan.

My Review:

Druid Warrior Prince is a fast-paced medieval romance with neat magic and interesting characters. It's the third book in the Celtic Stewards Chronicles, but it can be read at any time in the series and doesn't have any cliffhangers. It's a pagan story about Tuatha dé Danann warriors, Druid heroes, and evil Harbingers. The climax in the story happens on Samhain, where our modern-day Halloween comes from.

It's a coming-of-age story with a strong female protagonist named Gwenevieve. She has misplaced ideals when it comes to choosing a husband. I don't like to give any clues away, but I was disappointed that her newly realized ability and recently acquired weapons weren't used in the main battle.

This book was lots of fun to read. Please be aware that there is some sexual content without being overly explicit. For this reason, I would suggest that it's more appropriate for new adults.

About the Author:

Juli D. Revezzo loves fantasy and Celtic mythology and writing stories with all kinds of fantastical elements. She is the author of the historical romances, House of Dark Envy, Watchmaker's Heart, and Lady of the Tarot, the Antique Magic paranormal series and Celtic Stewards Chronicles series and more. She is also a member of the Independent Author Network and the Magic Appreciation Tour.

Destined for Love Series and a Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #242!

Destined for Love: Mansions is a clean romance series by various authors. The first book that I reviewed in this series was Love Me at Sunset and you can find that review on A Clean Romance Series. There are six books in all and I have included reviews for three of them below.

Learn more about each book by
clicking on the titles in blue.

Mending Fences (Destined for Love: Mansions) by [Grace, Lorin]

My Review:

Mending Fences is a well-thought out clean romance. It's the sweet girl-next-door bumps into the handsome wealthy bachelor, but told in a fresh way with great characters, believable chemistry, and plenty of interesting scenes. The story-line is tight and entertaining.

Roping His Heart (Destined For Love: Mansions) by [Hardy, Jaclyn]

My Review:

Roping His Heart is the story about a down-to-earth cowgirl and a wealthy city businessman who are both interested in restoring the same mansion. Can they get past their differences and learn to work together? This is an uncomplicated sweet romance that is fun to read.

Saving Sycamore Bay (Destined for Love: Mansions) by [Checketts, Cami]

My Review:

Saving Sycamore Bay is a Christian romance about a Southern belle trying to save her family home against all odds and a handsome ex-football player who is coerced by his boss to come help her. The story moves quickly and there's plenty of cute chemistry between them. It's mostly predictable, but there is a bit of a twist at the end. I did roll my eyes a few times when everything wrapped up too perfectly.

Blades of Magic

Blades of Magic
Crown Service Book 1

Blades Of Magic: Crown Service #1 by [Edun, Terah]

About the Book:

Title: Blades of Magic (Crown Service Book 1) | Author: Terah Edun | Pages: 304 | Genre: Sword and Sorcery | Recommended Age: Young Adult

Book Description:

It is not a peaceful time in the Algardis Empire. War is raging between the mages and seventeen-year-old Sara Fairchild will be right in the middle of it.

She just doesn't know it yet.

Sara is the daughter of a disgraced imperial commander, executed for desertion. Sara is also the best duelist and hand-to-hand combatant in Sandrin. She lives quietly with her family’s shame but when challenged about her family’s honor, her opponent inevitably loses.

On the night she finds out her father’s true last actions, she takes the Mercenary Guilds’ vows to serve in the emperor’s army. Using her quick wits and fierce fighting skills, she earns a spot in the first division.

There she discovers secrets the mages on both sides would prefer stay hidden. Dark enemies hunt her and soon it's not just Sara questioning the motivation behind this war.

While fighting mages, blackmailing merchants and discovering new friends, Sara comes across something she’s never had before - passion. The question is - can she fight for her empress against a mage who might unwittingly claim her heart?

This is year one of the Initiate Wars. Sara is hoping it doesn't become the year she dies.

Purchase on Amazon

My Review:

Blades of Magic has a kick-ass heroine named Sara who finds an unexpected ally in a well-learned curator. She fights to stay alive while facing many foes and trying to find out the truth behind her father's desertion. There's plenty of exciting action, great magic, and a hint of romance. I love her cool pet that plays a small role in the story. This is the first book in the Crown Service series and leaves some things hanging. The second book, Blades of Illusion, will be available November 2017.

A Clean Romance Series with Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #241!

A Clean Romance Series
by Lucinda Whitney

I recently included the novella, Hold Me at Twilight, on a previous book review post. Now that I have finished reading the first three books in the Romano Family series, I have put together the reviews here.

Learn more about each book by
clicking on the titles in blue.

Hold Me At Twilight: A Romano Family Novella by [Whitney, Lucinda]

My Review:

Hold Me at Twilight is a sweet romance novella and the first in the Romano Family series. The setting is Portugal and this is a cross-cultural love story. Even though it's part of a series, it still has a proper ending and won't leave you hanging. It's my first time reading a book by Lucinda Whitney and I can't wait to read more of her cute love stories.

Meet Me at Sunrise

Meet Me At Sunrise (Destined for Love: Europe) by [Whitney, Lucinda]

My Review:

Meet Me at Sunrise is a clean romance and the second book in the Romano Family series. We meet Vanessa Clark, a country girl from the USA, who counts her pennies out of necessity. Recently, her wealthy Portuguese grandfather has reentered her life and sends her on an 8-day river cruise in the north of Portugal aboard one of his ships. Captain Matias Romano, whom we met in Hold Me at Twilight, has been tasked with watching over her. When they first meet, angry sparks fly as they misjudge each other. Strange accidents take up most of the good captain's time as he ensures a safe and pleasant cruise experience for all of his passengers. This is an entertaining love story with a bit of suspense. It can be read as a stand-alone, but there are some loose ends that carry into the next book, Love Me at Sunset.

Love Me at Sunset

Love Me At Sunset (Destined for Love: Mansions) by [Whitney, Lucinda]

My Review:

Love Me at Sunset is a clean romance and the third book in the Romano Family series. It's also part of the Destined for Love: Mansions series by multiple authors. We meet Catarina Romano who is recently widowed and pregnant with her first child. She is hiding from the paparazzi at a mansion that belongs to one of her cousins. An ex-con, named Afonso Cortez, is hired by the owner of the mansion to work as a groundskeeper after being recommended by another cousin, Captain Matias Romano. Soon strange accidents begin to happen and the ex-con fears that his past has caught up to him. This is another entertaining love story with a bit of suspense.
