4 Christian Fantasy Novels

Last Friday our internet server in the region was down and on Saturday I discovered that the free linky widget that I have been using over the years is no longer available. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause my readers. At this stage there won't be a weekend linky until further notice. Another blogger has already approached me to co-host their "no rules" Wordless Wednesday link-up, which I have accepted.

On a different note, I have 4 Christian fantasy novels to share with you today. Two of them are for free on Amazon Kindle!

4 Christian Fantasy Novels

Firebird - Book 1

Firebird by [Tyers, Kathy]

My Review:

Firebird is the first book in the Firebird Trilogy. This is an exciting science-fiction fantasy. It’s action-packed with plenty of espionage, honor, magic, faith, and romance. It tells the story of Lady Firebird who has been training her whole life to be a worthy sacrifice as her proud Netaian faith dictates. She doesn’t have a future, so falling in love isn’t an option. However, when she is sent on a suicide mission to lead an attack on a neighboring planet, instead of dying like she is supposed to, she is taken captive. She has people who want her dead and one man who has offered her a new faith and a second chance at life. Can Lady Firebird give up everything she believes in to become something else? This was a great read and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.

The Heights of Perdition - Book 1

The Heights of Perdition: A Science Fiction Romance Series (The Divine Space Pirates Book 1) by [Johnson, C. S.]

My Review:

The Heights of Perdition is the first book in The Divine Space Pirates Trilogy. The Christian message comes through strong in this romantic science-fiction adventure series. The story moves quickly and the characters are likable and the dialogues are well thought out. There's plenty of clean chemistry to keep the romantics happy. Without giving any of the story away, I did feel that Emery and Exton were both out of character toward the end. It has a cliff-hanger ending, so be prepared.

Thunder - Book 1

Thunder (Stone Braide Chronicles Book #1): A Novel by [Calhoun, Bonnie S.]

My Review:

Thunder is the first book in the Stone Braide Chronicles. It is a dystopian fantasy set in a post-apocalyptic America. The story moves quickly with a good dose of adventure, betrayal, survival, faith, magic, and romance. Selah Chavez is a strong female protagonist who wants to prove to her father and brothers that she can be a valuable asset to the family. When she “catches” her first Lander, the hated humans who sporadically arrive on their shores, she’s certain of her future as a hunter. However, this Lander saves her life and she feels a connection to him that she can’t explain. When her brothers steal her catch, she wants to steal him back. An unfortunate event puts her on the run from her own family and now she believes that the Lander is important to her future survival. This was an exciting read and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Heart Song - Book 1

Heart Song (Heart Song Trilogy Book 1) by [Williams, Desiree]

My Review:

Heart Song is the first book in the Heart Song Trilogy. This fantasy is full of faith, magic, romance, and adventure. There are several wonderful characters with different magical abilities. They must learn the extent of their powers and work together to help defeat the evil forces threatening their lands. The protagonist is an 18-year old girl named Alanna who discovers a prophecy about herself and learns about her true heritage.

My three complaints are that the girl depicted on the cover doesn’t do the protagonist justice, the story needed more proofreading, and the author should have exercised more restraint regarding Alanna’s magical abilities, which are almost limitless.

If you like uncomplicated fantasy and clean romance, then you’ll enjoy this story. It has a cliffhanger ending, so be warned!

~ Heart Song ~

Disclosure: I purchased Firebird, Thunder, and Heart Song on Amazon Kindle and received a free digital copy of The Heights of Perdition. These are my honest reviews.

70th Birthday - Part 5

After enjoying a scrumptious breakfast on my mother-in-law's 70th birthday, Robbie, Amanda, and I went for a walk. I took photos of the wild flowers, the views of the mountains, and the flowers around the boutique hotel where we celebrated the birthday.

My linky party that I host every Tuesday and Friday isn't available at the moment. The free widget host site has either quit or is under maintenance. I do apologize for any inconvenience. I will continue posting every Tuesday my Wordless Wednesday photo post, so I hope you stick around!

3 Clean Romance Novels and a Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #234!

3 Clean Romance Novels
and 1 Novella

Griffin Force Book 1

The Captive (Griffin Force #1) by [Bellon, Julie Coulter]

Book Description:

Former Navy SEAL Jake Williams is the newly appointed head of a task force assigned to rescue a kidnapped American diplomat. Their only hope is Mya Amari, the daughter of a notorious Algerian hostage negotiator, but she is full of secrets and complications-something Jake takes as a personal challenge. As they grow closer, the threat to the mission escalates and time runs out for the hostages. Can Jake unravel the web of deception to save them all without getting caught in the crossfire?

Mya Amari has been in hiding nearly her entire life to escape her father's enemies. But when her sister is kidnapped along with an American diplomat, she'll do anything to bring her home-including walking into the enemy's lair. She doesn't trust anyone, especially the too-handsome-for-his-own-good Commander Williams, but when all her careful plans explode out of control, he's the only one she can turn to with the truth about her family. Is it too little, too late?

My Review of The Captive:

The Captive is an exciting action, adventure, romance novel. It's intriguing without being over-the-top. The characters are believable and the romantic bits flow well with the rest of the story. There are some twists, which keep you guessing. Even though this is the first book in a series, it can stand alone and won't leave you hanging.

The Jewel Series Book 1

Book Description:

To Robin Bartlett, men were nothing more than violent users. After a hair-raising childhood, Robin and her two younger half sisters battled simply to survive. Determined to give her sisters a very different life from that of their mother; to never have to rely on a man for anything, she worked two jobs and put them both through college, while accepting help from no one. Her heart had turned to ice and she had no use for men or God.

Antonio "Tony" Viscolli had grown up on the streets, homeless. At seventeen, he entered a downtown church with the intent of casing it, but found himself on his knees at the alter. After being fostered by the youth minister, Tony followed God's leading and eventually became a very successful and powerful businessman. In a fallen world, he was a gem. He has his eye on Robin, but will she ever allow herself to trust him or share his faith?

My Review of Sapphire Ice:

Sapphire Ice is a Christian romance novel with colorful characters. Sparks fly when Tony, a successful businessman, flirts with Robin, a waitress and bartender who knows "his type." She can't be bought and refuses his attention. They might be miles apart when it comes to faith or money, but they are equals when it comes to grit and being in control of their own lives. Will Robin give Tony a chance to show her that he isn't a player?

This is not a typical sedate Christian romance. It has plenty of thrilling moments and is quite edgy in places. This is the first book in a series, but it can easily stand alone as it has a proper ending.

A Timely Romance by [Mathis, LeAnn]

Book Description:

When a song magically transports Rebecca, a young, grieving widow, to the Middle Ages, she is astonished to be reunited with her husband. But his first words reveal a cruel irony. Trapped with no money, no food, and her husband's doppelganger, she must find a way to get back home. Which is even harder to do when Vikings are on the prowl and leaving might mean saying goodbye to her heart again.

My Review of A Timely Romance:

A Timely Romance is an entertaining time-travel novel with plenty of adventure, wholesome romance and good humor. The characters are fun and the story moves quickly. Even though I don't normally like time-travel stories (because of the repercussions, whether mentioned or not), this author tried not to complicate things and I enjoyed it for what it was, a love story.

A Romano Family Novella

Hold Me At Twilight: A Romano Family Novella by [Whitney, Lucinda]

Book Description:

When Knox Campbell goes to Portugal for a short business trip, he never planned on losing his documents. Now he’s stranded in Porto, his passport lost, and his credit cards canceled. Unable to return to the US and without a place to stay, Knox turns to the travel agent who suggested the local day attractions for assistance.

Jacinta Romano loves helping her clients set up their dream trips, although she doesn’t usually meet the ones visiting from abroad. But all that changes when a client shows up at the agency while her meddling family are still there. They latch on to him immediately, insisting Jacinta bring him home while he’s stranded. Thankfully, he’s only staying until his new passport arrives and after two weeks of playing hostess, she’ll be glad to send him on his way.

Or will she?

The Romano Family series follows the stories of the Romano cousins of northern Portugal as they find love and their Happily-Ever-Afters.

My Review of Hold Me at Twilight:

Hold Me at Twilight is a sweet romance novella and the first in the Romano Family series. The setting is Portugal and this is a cross-cultural love story. Even though it's part of a series, it still has a proper ending and won't leave you hanging. It's my first time reading a book by Lucinda Whitney and I can't wait to read more of her cute love stories.

Disclosure: I purchased The Captive and Sapphire Ice on Amazon Kindle.
