3 Clean Romance Novels and a Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #234!

3 Clean Romance Novels
and 1 Novella

Griffin Force Book 1

The Captive (Griffin Force #1) by [Bellon, Julie Coulter]

Book Description:

Former Navy SEAL Jake Williams is the newly appointed head of a task force assigned to rescue a kidnapped American diplomat. Their only hope is Mya Amari, the daughter of a notorious Algerian hostage negotiator, but she is full of secrets and complications-something Jake takes as a personal challenge. As they grow closer, the threat to the mission escalates and time runs out for the hostages. Can Jake unravel the web of deception to save them all without getting caught in the crossfire?

Mya Amari has been in hiding nearly her entire life to escape her father's enemies. But when her sister is kidnapped along with an American diplomat, she'll do anything to bring her home-including walking into the enemy's lair. She doesn't trust anyone, especially the too-handsome-for-his-own-good Commander Williams, but when all her careful plans explode out of control, he's the only one she can turn to with the truth about her family. Is it too little, too late?

My Review of The Captive:

The Captive is an exciting action, adventure, romance novel. It's intriguing without being over-the-top. The characters are believable and the romantic bits flow well with the rest of the story. There are some twists, which keep you guessing. Even though this is the first book in a series, it can stand alone and won't leave you hanging.

The Jewel Series Book 1

Book Description:

To Robin Bartlett, men were nothing more than violent users. After a hair-raising childhood, Robin and her two younger half sisters battled simply to survive. Determined to give her sisters a very different life from that of their mother; to never have to rely on a man for anything, she worked two jobs and put them both through college, while accepting help from no one. Her heart had turned to ice and she had no use for men or God.

Antonio "Tony" Viscolli had grown up on the streets, homeless. At seventeen, he entered a downtown church with the intent of casing it, but found himself on his knees at the alter. After being fostered by the youth minister, Tony followed God's leading and eventually became a very successful and powerful businessman. In a fallen world, he was a gem. He has his eye on Robin, but will she ever allow herself to trust him or share his faith?

My Review of Sapphire Ice:

Sapphire Ice is a Christian romance novel with colorful characters. Sparks fly when Tony, a successful businessman, flirts with Robin, a waitress and bartender who knows "his type." She can't be bought and refuses his attention. They might be miles apart when it comes to faith or money, but they are equals when it comes to grit and being in control of their own lives. Will Robin give Tony a chance to show her that he isn't a player?

This is not a typical sedate Christian romance. It has plenty of thrilling moments and is quite edgy in places. This is the first book in a series, but it can easily stand alone as it has a proper ending.

A Timely Romance by [Mathis, LeAnn]

Book Description:

When a song magically transports Rebecca, a young, grieving widow, to the Middle Ages, she is astonished to be reunited with her husband. But his first words reveal a cruel irony. Trapped with no money, no food, and her husband's doppelganger, she must find a way to get back home. Which is even harder to do when Vikings are on the prowl and leaving might mean saying goodbye to her heart again.

My Review of A Timely Romance:

A Timely Romance is an entertaining time-travel novel with plenty of adventure, wholesome romance and good humor. The characters are fun and the story moves quickly. Even though I don't normally like time-travel stories (because of the repercussions, whether mentioned or not), this author tried not to complicate things and I enjoyed it for what it was, a love story.

A Romano Family Novella

Hold Me At Twilight: A Romano Family Novella by [Whitney, Lucinda]

Book Description:

When Knox Campbell goes to Portugal for a short business trip, he never planned on losing his documents. Now he’s stranded in Porto, his passport lost, and his credit cards canceled. Unable to return to the US and without a place to stay, Knox turns to the travel agent who suggested the local day attractions for assistance.

Jacinta Romano loves helping her clients set up their dream trips, although she doesn’t usually meet the ones visiting from abroad. But all that changes when a client shows up at the agency while her meddling family are still there. They latch on to him immediately, insisting Jacinta bring him home while he’s stranded. Thankfully, he’s only staying until his new passport arrives and after two weeks of playing hostess, she’ll be glad to send him on his way.

Or will she?

The Romano Family series follows the stories of the Romano cousins of northern Portugal as they find love and their Happily-Ever-Afters.

My Review of Hold Me at Twilight:

Hold Me at Twilight is a sweet romance novella and the first in the Romano Family series. The setting is Portugal and this is a cross-cultural love story. Even though it's part of a series, it still has a proper ending and won't leave you hanging. It's my first time reading a book by Lucinda Whitney and I can't wait to read more of her cute love stories.

Disclosure: I purchased The Captive and Sapphire Ice on Amazon Kindle.
I received a free digital copy of A Timely Romance and

$0.99 in the USA

I have read Teeth of the Gods and Lightning Strikes Twice. The author, Sarah K.L. Wilson, tells me that the third book, Thunder Rattles High, is her favorite in the series. My reviews for Books 1 and 2 are included below. I can't wait to read Book 3!

Teeth of the Gods
Unweaving Chronicles Book 1

Teeth of the Gods (Unweaving Chronicles Book 1) by [Wilson, Sarah K. L.]

About the Book:

Title: Teeth of the Gods (Book 1) | Author: Sarah K.L. Wilson | Pages: 354 | Genre: Fantasy and Science-Fiction | Recommended Age: Young Adult

Book Description:

Chained to an enemy general. Determined to be free.

After years in seclusion and training, eighteen-year-old Tylira Nyota is summoned by the High Tazmin to be chained to a fallen enemy general. She is a terrible choice to receive this honor – her magic is useless and she finds it impossible to fit in the world she was born to.

Determined to keep her freedom, Tylira instead joins the legendary race for the fabled Teeth of the Gods. With an angry step-mother chasing her and the handsome general chained to her wrist, Tylira must learn to control her magic - which is turning out to be deadly – before it destroys everything she’s fought to gain.

My Review:

Teeth of the Gods is a thrilling story full of magic, romance, and betrayal with one girl passionately driven to doing things her own way when everything has been dictated to her her entire life. Can things get any worse when she is physically abused by her step-mother and magically chained to an enemy general? This is an intense fantasy novel with a bit of science-fiction and a great first book in the trilogy.

Lightning Strikes Twice
Unweaving Chronicles Book 2

Lightning Strikes Twice (Unweaving Chronicles Book 2) by [Wilson, Sarah K. L.]

About the Book:

Title: Lightning Strikes Twice (Book 2) | Author: Sarah K.L. Wilson | Pages: 300 | Genre: Fantasy and Science-Fiction | Recommended Age: Young Adult

Book Description:

A mad emperor. A frozen world. Sacrifices will be made.

After finding the Teeth of the Gods, eighteen-year-old Tylira Nyota thought things couldn’t get any more challenging. But when she realizes that she is the only one capable of stopping the coming cataclysm, she must enter another world to find the answers she needs – fight in the middle of a war.

Determined to do what it takes to find her world’s salvation, Tylira forges her own path with only Rusk Hawkwing by her side. But when she meets the Emperor of Veen, the terrifying Catane, everything begins to spiral out of control and she may need to make impossible choices just to survive.

My Review:

Lightning Strikes Twice is more intense than the first book. Tylira has learned how to tap into her powers, but she's up against a formidable foe who has the same abilities as her, only stronger. She has Rusk as her ally, but there's another man asking for her hand in marriage. She might have to say yes in order to save Rusk. Can Tylira put her personal desires aside to do what others need her to do? This was a great second book in the trilogy. I am looking forward to more books by Sarah K.L. Wilson. She's a great story-teller!

Thunder Rattles High
Unweaving Chronicles Book 3

Thunder Rattles High (Unweaving Chronicles Book 3) by [Wilson, Sarah K. L.]

About the Book:

Title: Thunder Rattles High (Book 3) | Author: Sarah K.L. Wilson | Pages: 271 | Genre: Fantasy and Science-Fiction | Recommended Age: Young Adult

Book Description:

Desperation. Magic. Unflinching Courage.

After fleeing Axum with an army and her life, eighteen-year-old Tylira Nyota believes she may have found the key to save her world from the cataclysm tearing it apart. But when Emperor Catane follows her with the armies of Veen, it becomes a race against time, nature, and Catane’s insatiable desire for power and domination.

Determined to heal her world, Tylira must use every ally and every scrap of skill and creativity she can find to turn back the tides that threaten to rip apart everything she loves. But when everything she tries seems to be insufficient to stem the rising tide, will she have the courage to meet the ultimate test of her determination and love?

3 Christian Romantic Suspense Novels and a Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #233!

What have you been reading recently? I seem to be reading eBooks faster than I can review them. Since I've been devouring so many good books, I thought to share some with you. Here are 3 Christian urban romantic suspense novels with strong female protagonists. Each of the books is the first in a series, but they can be read on their own and won't leave you hanging. I'm including my reviews below each one. Click on the titles to learn more.

Red - The New Rulebook
Christian Suspense Series Book 1

Red- The New Rulebook Christian Suspense Series- Book #1 by [Ohagwu, Joy]

My Review of Red - The New Rulebook

Red - The New Rulebook is an exciting heart pounding romantic suspense novel. Joy Ohagwu maintains the suspense level with several twists throughout the story. There is also a good dose of clean romance and a bit of science fiction. I really liked the characters of Red (aka Ruby) and her best friend Robert. They make a great team. Red turns to Robert when she's framed for murder and then hunted by the same people who committed the murder. The Christian message in the story is well presented without being contrived. I'm looking forward to more books by this author.

Always Watching
Elite Guardians Book 1

Always Watching (Elite Guardians Book #1) by [Eason, Lynette]

My Review of Always Watching

Always Watching is a well thought out romantic suspense novel. Olivia is a professional bodyguard hired to protect a radio personality named Wade from a deadly stalker. She knows her job and does it extremely well, but the stalker always seems to be a step ahead. To complicate matters, Olivia is falling for the handsome widower, Wade. Meet the Elite Guardians team and follow their adventures in this great first book in the series!

Deadly Hunt
Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations Book 1

Deadly Hunt (Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations Book 1) by [Daley, Margaret]

My Review of Deadly Hunt

Deadly Hunt has a great opening story-line. Bodyguard Tess is on vacation to relax and unwind from her last assignment. That vacation is shattered when an injured stranger stumbles into her isolated cabin in the Arizona mountains. The rest of the story is somewhat simplistic. It has some romance elements and there is a bit of action, but the plot was somewhat predictable. If you are looking for a quick read and a light-hearted romance, then you'll like this story.

Disclosure: I purchased the eBooks of Red and Always Watching from Amazon Kindle when they were on promotion. I received a free digital copy of Deadly Hunt. These are my honest reviews.

Window of Darkness

Window of Darkness
(Book 3 in the Window of Death Trilogy)
by D.J. Erfert

Window of Darkness: Book 3 in the Window of Time Trilogy by [Erfert, DJ]

About the Book:

Title: Window of Darkness (Book 3) | Author: D.J. Erfert | Publication: Stone Horse Press | Pages: 285 | Genre: Paranormal Suspense | Age Level: Young Adult

Book Description:

The difference between a gift and a curse is only a matter of perspective.

To Lucy Cartwright, a glimpse into the future means a chance to save innocent people from an untimely death to live another day—or for a lifetime. In her eyes, it’s a true gift. Her uncle has a different way of looking at the ability he shares with his niece. To him, it’s a curse that tortures his soul so badly he wants it to end. It drives him insane. But when he wants to stop Lucy’s curse before he dies, she has to hunt him down before he finds her first.

Purchase on Amazon
Kindle | Paperback

My Review

Window of Darkness is the third book in the Window of Time trilogy. It's a page-turner story as CIA Agent Lucy Cartwright solves cases with the help of her friends and family. She has recently learned that she has an uncle who has wanted her dead since she was a baby. He killed her mother and many women who remind him of her. There's also an arsonist setting dangerous fires in her husband's district, nearly killing him and other firefighters on his team. On top of that, there's a power hungry Assistant Director at the CIA who has been trying to uncover Lucy's secret for years and will stop at nothing, even if it ruins Lucy's career.

There is plenty of suspense with multiple bad guys, lots of action, some romance, strong friendships, and paranormal elements. I can easily picture this trilogy becoming a television series.

More Reviews of DJ Erfert's Books:

About the Author:
DJ (Debra) Erfert

Debra Erfert

While growing up, going to libraries felt like an adventure filled with mystery and wonder to Debra. The hushed tones invoked secrets, and the dusty, sometimes moldy, smell of paper was the same in each city she lived. Leaving the library with just a single book never happened. Years later, her love of reading turned to a passion for writing stories others might enjoy. She’s an award winning fine artist who lives in a southwest Arizona city with her husband, a retired police lieutenant, where the average summer temperatures are well above 100 degrees--truly hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk.

Disclosure: I received a free digital copy of this book for my honest review.
