4th of July and #WW #Linky

Welcome to my Picture Perfect

We spent our American 4th of July eating wood fired pizzas at a wine cellar and deli twenty minutes drive from our home in South Africa. I spotted the American flag (above) in Simon's Town near Cape Town the following day. Below are photos of our drive and visit to the wine cellar and deli at Du Toitskloof. I recommend you click on the images to view them larger.

Happy 4th of July and Weekend Linky!

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #134!

My blog is best viewed in Google Chrome.
Click on the images to view them larger.
It's worth it!

This is my garden in Spring. I love taking photos of my flowers and sharing them with you. My last few weekend posts are examples of that. I really appreciate my garden, but I'm not much of a gardener and I find gardening programs on the TV extremely boring. I love watching home shows, but I'm not much of a DIY-er either.

Here in South Africa, our kids are on their winter break right now. We have our winter months in June and July. They are also in the middle of their school year. The school term ends in December and the new school year begins in January. Over December and January they have their summer break. Our son is home from university for the holiday and we had our first family outing last Sunday to Tulbagh. Be sure to check out that post if you missed it!

Wishing all my American
family members and friends
a Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! Today I decided not to host my weekend blog hop, Make My Saturday Sweet. I hope everyone who is celebrating enjoys their time. Hubby and I had a McDonalds breakfast this morning to celebrate (here in South Africa). God bless!

Make My Saturday Sweet - Blog Hop #44

I'm back with another Make My Saturday Sweet blog hop. I was in the States on vacation and kept my blogging to a minimum, so I haven't posted this hop since the 4th of July. My previous 4th of July was pretty dismal. I think you'll enjoy visiting both of those posts, so go on and check them out!

Friendship Friday - Birthdays

My favorite way to celebrate my birthday is to be spending it with good friends and close family members and eating good food.

I can't remember someone throwing me a surprise birthday party before. I do remember organizing my mom's 40th surprise birthday party. I was a 12th grader at the time and it was a success.

I love chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream and hot fudge.

One of my favorite birthday memories was when my in-laws took us out to eat at a beautiful little spot. It was a restaurant on a wine farm that is not very far from our home. We all enjoyed our food and the ambiance. It was the perfect outing. I'm sharing a photo of that day with you.

My birthday lunch in 2007 with my in-laws,
my husband and our three kids
(this was before Amanda was born)

I have a bad habit of...

1. Losing my calm and shouting at the kids.

2. Collecting papers on anything from recipes to poetry, but not organizing them or even making use of them.

3. Taking on more than I can handle and then procrastinating when I feel overwhelmed.

Make My Saturday Sweet - Blog Hop #43

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone from the U.S.A. enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July yesterday. It was Samantha's and Amanda's first time to experience it. Jeremiah and Jessica were so small when we celebrated our last one in 2000 that it was like a first for them too. We were with my mom, step-dad and grandmother in Palm Coast, Florida. I've got several pictures to share with you on how we celebrated this day.

Also, my kids have been growing up in South Africa where they have something called Freedom Day on June 16, which is a day to celebrate freedom from apartheid. It's a national holiday, but there aren't any banners or fireworks.

I'm linking with Friendship Friday.
