Our New Dog and a Wedding at RAEL with Linky

Robbie with Biscuit and Koda

We adopted a new dog, so that Koda could have a friend! We brought her home from the animal shelter this past weekend to see how the two would interact. We could see almost immediately that she was going to fit right in with our family. Amanda named her Biscuit and we officially adopted her yesterday!

On Saturday we attended a wedding at RAEL (Recovering Addicts Empowering Lives). I noticed that my Addiction Recovery Farm feature has been consistently showing up in my sidebar under the Popular Posts. This is where Hubby and I do ministry twice a week. We give the guys biblical truths to help them navigate their future with God. The wedding was a meaningful event as the groom had once been at death's door when he arrived at RAEL a few years ago. He has subsequently found a new life in Christ and a wife who also loves God.

All of these photos (above and below) were taken with my phone, so if they look a little different, you'll know why.

Wordless Wednesday - 6

Before the Church

Inside the Church

Leaving the Church
Sorry for the quality of these photos. I scanned them in from my wedding album and this is how they turned out. I think it would have worked better if I could have removed the photos from the album, but they are stuck in... kind of like married life! Hahaha!

Happily Ever After

This post follows on from “More than a Prince.”

Amanda with her dad at the Cape Town airport.
Don't you just love the Disney Mermaid suitcase!
It’s funny how little girls get romantic notions. Amanda’s Disney movies send the message that when the pretty girl marries her prince, they live happily ever after. The future holds no more cares or worries. It’s blissful oblivion. From my perspective, they stop existing, because existing means to feel love, happiness, joy, satisfaction, disappointed, discouragement and pain. Life is all these emotions and more.

My advice to any woman wanting the perfect husband is not to go for a prince, but rather go for someone with substance. Find a guy who not only wants to be the champion, but who also wants to champion you. Life will continue after the wedding. It might not always feel like “happily ever after,” but it will be the real kind of existing in a real world.

The best kind of living is one with relevance and purpose.
