Mother's Day Flowers and a Linky

Robbie and Amanda spoiled me on Mother's Day. Robbie bought the flowers and Amanda baked heart-shaped scones. I also got showered with loving messages from our adult children.

Blue Bindweed and a Linky

These flowers make the prettiest groundcover. I love seeing them in my garden and in other gardens around the neighborhood. They're called Convolvulus sabatius, Convolvulus mauritanicus, blue rock bindweed, or morning glory. You can read more about them on Gardeners' World.

We've been having staggered power outages across the country called loadshedding. Years ago, our power provider, Eskom, was warned to update their power plants, predicting the problems we've been having these last few years. Today we had two power outages, usually lasting 2 and a half hours. It doesn't happen all the time but it happens enough to be disruptive. I feel sorry for business owners.

Lavender and Kiss-Me-Quick with Linky

The lavender and kiss-me-quick are flowering like crazy and adding so much color to the back garden. Hubby tried to get rid of the latter, which is an invasive plant, but it won't stay dead.

Soon it will be swimming weather as we head into summer here in South Africa. My kitchen window looks down on this part of the garden, so I appreciate the pretty pool and flowers.

Two Types of Irises and a Linky

Today's featured flowers are wild irises and typical irises. I don't think we planted the wild irises. They are probably living up to their common name and grew wild. The scientific name is Dietes and they are indigenous to South Africa. I also have two Cape Sparrows on the fence.
