Clean Christmas Romances and a Linky

Christmas at the Castle
FREE on Amazon Kindle!

Christmas at the Castle (Ever After series Book 3) by [McClone, Melissa]

My Review:

Christmas at the Castle is a sweet modern-day romance set in a little country near the Alps called Alistonia. Kat is a veterinarian from the States and is best friends with the princess of Alistonia. They first met as young girls at summer camp. The princess is getting married over the Christmas holiday and Kat is to be one of her two bridesmaids. Sparks fly at the castle between possible suitors for Kat. The queen of Alistonia thinks that Kat is just a gold digger and not good enough for the royal family. This love story will put you in the mood to enjoy the holidays.

My Review:

The Christmas Bargain is a sweet romance that begins as a business transaction without the romance! Now two people are married, but only in name. Will they find love and make the marriage permanent? This Victorian romance will warm your heart this holiday.

A Christmas Homecoming (Bar V5 Ranch) by [McClone, Melissa]

My Review:

A Christmas Homecoming is a sweet modern-day romance. The billionaire bachelor Josiah is recovering from a long illness and sent to the Bar V5 Ranch to recuperate over the Christmas holiday.  He hates everything to do with Christmas. Ellie, the sister of a childhood friend, works at the ranch and makes it her mission to spread holiday cheer to all the guests. They hadn't seen each other for many years and all of a sudden there is chemistry between them. Josiah loves the big city life and Ellie is just a small-town girl. Can they resolve their differences and give love a chance? This feel-good romance will put you in the holiday mood!

Marti Talbott's Highlander Series 1 (Anna, Rachel & Charlet) by [Talbott, Marti]

My Review:

Anna, Rachael, and Charlet are 3 books in the Highlander Series - Book 1. These are well-written clean romances. They follow in chronological order and can stand alone. The first one is particularly grim and inappropriate for sensitive readers, although there is a positive outcome. The second two are much more hopeful and cheerful. I was impressed with this series and I'd be happy to read more books by Marti Talbott.

Knowing Yourself - A Medieval Romance (The Sword of Glastonbury Series Book 1) by [Shea, Lisa]

My Review:

Knowing Yourself is a clean coming-of-age medieval romance. It's an entertaining read with plenty of witty dialogue, wonderful heroes and plenty of bad guys. My only two complaints are that the special sword didn't really make much of a difference in the outcome of events as it wasn't used in the main battle and the heroine was running around with a sliced-open leg that had only been bandaged, which I think should have caused serious blood loss. Overall, it was fun to read and worth my time.

Destined for Love Series and a Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #242!

Destined for Love: Mansions is a clean romance series by various authors. The first book that I reviewed in this series was Love Me at Sunset and you can find that review on A Clean Romance Series. There are six books in all and I have included reviews for three of them below.

Learn more about each book by
clicking on the titles in blue.

Mending Fences (Destined for Love: Mansions) by [Grace, Lorin]

My Review:

Mending Fences is a well-thought out clean romance. It's the sweet girl-next-door bumps into the handsome wealthy bachelor, but told in a fresh way with great characters, believable chemistry, and plenty of interesting scenes. The story-line is tight and entertaining.

Roping His Heart (Destined For Love: Mansions) by [Hardy, Jaclyn]

My Review:

Roping His Heart is the story about a down-to-earth cowgirl and a wealthy city businessman who are both interested in restoring the same mansion. Can they get past their differences and learn to work together? This is an uncomplicated sweet romance that is fun to read.

Saving Sycamore Bay (Destined for Love: Mansions) by [Checketts, Cami]

My Review:

Saving Sycamore Bay is a Christian romance about a Southern belle trying to save her family home against all odds and a handsome ex-football player who is coerced by his boss to come help her. The story moves quickly and there's plenty of cute chemistry between them. It's mostly predictable, but there is a bit of a twist at the end. I did roll my eyes a few times when everything wrapped up too perfectly.

A Clean Romance Series with Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #241!

A Clean Romance Series
by Lucinda Whitney

I recently included the novella, Hold Me at Twilight, on a previous book review post. Now that I have finished reading the first three books in the Romano Family series, I have put together the reviews here.

Learn more about each book by
clicking on the titles in blue.

Hold Me At Twilight: A Romano Family Novella by [Whitney, Lucinda]

My Review:

Hold Me at Twilight is a sweet romance novella and the first in the Romano Family series. The setting is Portugal and this is a cross-cultural love story. Even though it's part of a series, it still has a proper ending and won't leave you hanging. It's my first time reading a book by Lucinda Whitney and I can't wait to read more of her cute love stories.

Meet Me at Sunrise

Meet Me At Sunrise (Destined for Love: Europe) by [Whitney, Lucinda]

My Review:

Meet Me at Sunrise is a clean romance and the second book in the Romano Family series. We meet Vanessa Clark, a country girl from the USA, who counts her pennies out of necessity. Recently, her wealthy Portuguese grandfather has reentered her life and sends her on an 8-day river cruise in the north of Portugal aboard one of his ships. Captain Matias Romano, whom we met in Hold Me at Twilight, has been tasked with watching over her. When they first meet, angry sparks fly as they misjudge each other. Strange accidents take up most of the good captain's time as he ensures a safe and pleasant cruise experience for all of his passengers. This is an entertaining love story with a bit of suspense. It can be read as a stand-alone, but there are some loose ends that carry into the next book, Love Me at Sunset.

Love Me at Sunset

Love Me At Sunset (Destined for Love: Mansions) by [Whitney, Lucinda]

My Review:

Love Me at Sunset is a clean romance and the third book in the Romano Family series. It's also part of the Destined for Love: Mansions series by multiple authors. We meet Catarina Romano who is recently widowed and pregnant with her first child. She is hiding from the paparazzi at a mansion that belongs to one of her cousins. An ex-con, named Afonso Cortez, is hired by the owner of the mansion to work as a groundskeeper after being recommended by another cousin, Captain Matias Romano. Soon strange accidents begin to happen and the ex-con fears that his past has caught up to him. This is another entertaining love story with a bit of suspense.

3 Blissful Historical Romances and a Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #240!

3 Blissful Historical Romances
Click on the titles below for links to Amazon.

Only $0.99 on Amazon Kindle!

Penelope ( A Madcap Regency Romance ) (The Fairweather Sisters Book 1) by [Wylde, Anya]

Book Description:

Leaving behind the rural charms of Finnshire, Miss Penelope Fairweather arrives in London with hope in her heart and a dream in her eye. The dowager, no less, has invited her for a season in London, where she will attempt to catch a husband.

Thus begins our heroine’s tale as she attempts to tackle the London season with all her rustic finesse. Unfortunately her rustic finesse turns out to be as delicate as a fat bear trying to rip apart a honeycomb infested with buzzing bees.

What follows is a series of misadventures, love affairs, moonlit balls, fancy clothes, fake mustaches, highwaymen, sneering beauties, pickpockets, and the wrath of a devilishly handsome duke.

My Review:

Penelope is a romantic historical comedy with plenty of witty dialogues and hilarious scenes. It's all about the delightful countrified Penelope and her misadventures as she enters the London season for her first time. Other wonderful characters are a silly goat named Lady Bathsheba, a kindred spirit named Lady Anne, and the scowling Duke of Blackthorne, named Charles Cornelius Radclyff. It's my favorite historical romance of 2017 and I laughed out loud throughout the book. I wouldn't be surprised if it remains my favorite.

The Fall of Lord Drayson (Tanglewood Book 1) by [Anderson, Rachael]

Book Description:

When Colin Cavendish, the new Earl of Drayson, informs Lucy Beresford that she and her mother need to vacate the house they've called home for the past two years, Lucy is fit to be tied. They have no money, no relations they can turn to for help, and nowhere to go. How dare the earl break the promise his father had made to the Beresfords without so much as a twinge of conscience?

Fate plays her hand when Lucy discovers the earl unconscious and injured in the middle of the road. When he awakens with no recollection of who he is, Lucy seizes the opportunity to teach the earl a much-needed lesson in humility and tells him that he is nothing more than a mere servant. Her servant, in fact.

And thus begins the charming tale of a pompous lord and an impetuous young woman, caught together in a web so tangled that it begs the question: Will they ever get out?

My Review:

The Fall of Lord Drayson is a wonderfully inventive tale where Lucy Beresford, the late-vicar's daughter, turns the tables on Colin Cavendish, the Earl of Drayson, by telling him a wicked lie. She finds him unconscious and discovers that he has lost his memory. When they have a heated exchange of words, she informs him that he is her servant. This lie gets her into quite a lot of emotional trouble, especially when she changes her opinion of him. At one point, she suspects that he knows the truth. Now what will she do? This was an entertaining read with a happily-ever-after.

The Earl's Unsuitable Bride
FREE on Amazon Kindle!

The Earl's Unsuitable Bride: A Sweet & Clean Historical Romance (The Chase Brides Book 1) by [Royal, Lauren, Royal, Devon]

Book Description:

"The Earl’s London Bride” is the SWEET & CLEAN ROMANCE edition of “Amethyst” by Lauren Royal. From a New York Times bestselling author and her daughter!

London, 1666: Amethyst Goldsmith makes dazzling jewelry, but her future isn’t nearly as bright as the pieces she creates. Though custom dictates she wed her father’s apprentice, her heart rebels against the match. In mere days Amy will be condemned to a stifling, loveless marriage, and she sees no way out—until the devastating fire of 1666 sweeps through London, and tragedy lands her in the arms of a dashing young earl who knows a diamond in the rough when he sees it…

Colin Chase, the Earl of Greystone, has his future all figured out. He’s restoring his crumbling castle and estate to its former glory, and the key to its completion is his rich bride-to-be. But the Great Fire lays waste to his plans, saddling him with trouble—in the form of a penniless shopkeeper’s daughter with whom he’s most inconveniently falling in love…

My Review:

The Earl's Unsuitable Bride is an exciting Historical Romance full of adventure and turmoil. The protagonist is a working-class female named Amethyst Goldmsith who is passionate about her trade as a jeweler. There is trouble in her world and falling in love with Colin Chase, the Earl of Greystone, doesn't make things easier. A proper lady would never be allowed to work, no matter how talented she was. Colin has his own problems and needing to marry for money is one of them. Can love win when the odds are stacked against them? This is a great story with interesting characters and surprising adventures.

Favorite Love Story and More!

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #69!

You can link your family friendly

Friendship Friday: The Letter "F"

F is for Favorite Love Story

These two images are the top
and bottom of my scrapbook
page of our dating days.

My favorite love story that happened to me began on Valentine's Day in 1995. There was this guy (Rob Morley) on the missionary ship, the M.V. Doulos, who asked permission to get to know me better in a dating kind of way. We were working together at that time in the book exhibition. He was my shift leader. I liked him as a leader, but I turned down the request. We agreed to be friends.

A few days later it was Valentine's Day. The ship was docked in India. I received a very sweet Valentine's Day card and it was signed, Your friend always, Rob. I was excited to get a card. It was not the done thing on board, as there were plenty of rules to keep the singles well-managed and in line.

That was the starting point of Robbie finding his way into my heart, because we had our first date in Bombay (Mumbai) on March 3, 1995. It was my 20th birthday. He was 28 and I was the first girl that he ever kissed romantically.

We got married in South Africa, five months after we began dating and after we had said goodbye to the ship in Tanzania. Being in missions has remained in our hearts. We got involved in church work, youth work, and later joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Now we have co-founded Light and Life Bible Ministries.

A photo of me on outreach in India.

I took this photo this morning of Amanda
on Valentine's Day, 2014. She got a card
with a chocolate heart lolly from us.

Amanda painted this picture for me and
gave it to me this morning.

Happily Ever After

This post follows on from “More than a Prince.”

Amanda with her dad at the Cape Town airport.
Don't you just love the Disney Mermaid suitcase!
It’s funny how little girls get romantic notions. Amanda’s Disney movies send the message that when the pretty girl marries her prince, they live happily ever after. The future holds no more cares or worries. It’s blissful oblivion. From my perspective, they stop existing, because existing means to feel love, happiness, joy, satisfaction, disappointed, discouragement and pain. Life is all these emotions and more.

My advice to any woman wanting the perfect husband is not to go for a prince, but rather go for someone with substance. Find a guy who not only wants to be the champion, but who also wants to champion you. Life will continue after the wedding. It might not always feel like “happily ever after,” but it will be the real kind of existing in a real world.

The best kind of living is one with relevance and purpose.
