Day 1 of Samantha's Bedroom Make-Over

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #192!

Samantha is turning 16 on Sunday! As a birthday gift, she is getting a bedroom make-over. She has the smallest bedroom in the house, but she also has the best view. It used to be her brother's room and it still looked like a boy's room. We gave him the guest room, since he's only home during term breaks, and it has an en-suite.

Samantha was very involved in shopping around with her dad for paint and a couple pieces of furniture. She carefully measured and drew the lay-out of her room. Before the new furniture arrived, they painted the walls. It took them three coats of paint to cover the light-blue that was there. Pop back next Friday to see more!

Thanks, Lisa! It looks like some good game advice. I never owned Candyland, but I was always intrigued by the board game. I used to daydream that if I owned a store, it would be a candy store like in the olden days with sweets in glass jars, etc. :D

Ah, you visited the links! ;) We haven't changed the home much since we moved in, so it's thanks to everyone who lived here before us. :D

I love the color you chose, it's so pretty and that view! She is so blessed to be able to look out that window everyday! Looking forward to seeing pictures of the finished product. : )

Thanks, Cathy! Yesterday I took her shopping for bedding. She used her own money. I'll post the pics this coming Friday. Take care!

Thanks, Michele! That looks like an interesting and important read. It reminds me of Philemon, where Paul calls Onesimus his child and tells Philemon to welcome his run-away slave as he would welcome Paul (an honored guest). That was radical "talk" in those days. I was born in Maine, by the way, but my parents moved when I was a baby to Missouri and then we moved with the US Army to other States and Germany. Wishing you a blessed week ahead and blessings on your sons!

I love the colour yellow :) I have just picked this colour in my cold kitchen,to make it feel warmer. I bet your daughter is all excited for her new bedroom, my daughter is but it is taking forever to finish :)

Sammy's room is also the coldest bedroom in our house, so, like your kitchen, it needed a warm colour. ;) Glad for you guys for your home improvements, even if it takes "forever". :D

I seemed to have gone to your blog hops page and then found my way back here. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the end result. That soft light caramel colour looks like it could be quite relaxing and earthy. Also how marvellous father and daughter to work together. Great job.

Thanks, Maria! I'll be posting the pics of her near finished room this Friday. She might still want art and a bean bag, but otherwise the room looks complete. Have a great week ahead!
