A poem from Chapter Two:

Upon the great waves of life You ride

Holding me close to Your side

I can pass through life’s challenges

Knowing the full love Your life gives

You are not a moment passing by

I am Yours and You do not lie

I praise God for peace in the storm

My life is in Your hands to form

Greater is Your Spirit who is in me

So I need not fear the enemy

You spoke and the sea was still

I can trust Your perfect will

Strong Women in Fiction and a Linky

Happy International Women's Day! I hope every girl and woman knows how valued she is today. The photo above is of my blue Plumbago and pink miniature roses. I'll share more photos of them on Tuesday's linky party.

In honor of Women's Day, I chose two sweet fictional romance stories about strong women with big hearts for their families. Click on the titles in blue to purchase them on Amazon Kindle. I've included my reviews below.

The Husband Mission (The Spy Matchmaker Book 1) by [Scott, Regina]

My Review:

The Husband Mission is a sweet Regency romance by Regina Scott. The story is about a young woman named Katherine who keeps her blended family together. She has accepted spinsterhood for herself, but is determined to see her stepsister wed to a good man, especially since her stepsister will lose her inheritance if she doesn't. Will Katherine's spying and secrets get in the way of true love? This is a fun story with real good guys and bad guys and Katherine is in the middle of it all.

Larken (Graceling Hall Book 1) by [Rogers, Suzanne G.]

My Review:

Larken is a sweet Victorian romance by Suzanne G. Rogers. It's a story about a girl who lost her parents in a train crash. Larken was the only survivor. She has nightmares and physical scars to remind her of that terrible event.

When Larken comes of age, she is given little choice about her future. Her foster parents send her off by train to marry a complete stranger. He needs a wife to look after his ward, a young boy. Larken is a brave and creative soul who helps bring the young boy out of his shell. Will she be able to help her husband in-name-only come out of his?

Disclosure: I purchased both books from Amazon Kindle when they were on promotion. These are my honest reviews. There are no affiliate links.

Intimacy in Marriage and a Linky

Many of you have been following this blog for some time and already know a bit about me. I got married at age 20 to Robert Sean Morley in 1995. I had my first child by age 21! We've been married now for 22 years. The photo above was taken about a year ago.

My husband did online theological studies last year and we watched some videos together on Sexual Intimacy by psychologist Kristine Koetje-Balder. Some of what she covered was for women who fear sexual intimacy because of past sexual traumas and how husbands can help them enjoy intimacy.

I never experienced anything awful like molestation or date rape, but these things still affect me when I hear about them. I feel terrible for those who have suffered in that way. Here's a poem that I wrote in 2006 and is one of the poems in my book, Happy Moms, Happy Homes.

There once was a girl on a sunny day
She was having fun in a carefree way
In a field of flowers with the honey bee
This is how life should always be

But growing up brought many hardships
As she jumped in and out of relationships
The flowers were exchanged for stolen kisses
Followed by the sting and shame she now nurses

She let life bounce like a ball at its own will
Each bounce a piece of heart would kill
Looking for love, but in the end she found none
Life without rules brought pain instead of fun

This is not how life should be
She was created with purpose and a destiny
Not to be left without direction or only to fate
For her to turn around now is never too late

Her heart may be torn into tiny shreds
And hope hanging merely by threads
But as she opens her heart to God’s ways
He’ll bring her back to sunshiny days

He is the Great Creator and Master Restorer
He can put anyone’s life back in order
Each person must follow His leading and call
And by Christ’s Spirit He’ll not let us fall

by Christina A. Morley

The book that I reviewed below sensitively handles the topic of life after rape. It shows that with the right approach a woman can experience intimacy in marriage and enjoy it. The novella has mature content and is not appropriate for young adults. It's presently for free on Amazon Kindle.

The Governess Affair (The Brothers Sinister) by [Milan, Courtney]

Book Description:

The start of a critically acclaimed historical romance series by New York Times bestselling author Courtney Milan...

Hugo Marshall earned the nickname "the Wolf of Clermont" for his ruthless ambition--a characteristic that has served him well, elevating the coal miner's son to the right hand man of a duke. When he's ordered to get rid of a pestering governess by fair means or foul, it's just another day at work.

But after everything Miss Serena Barton has been through at the hands of his employer, she is determined to make him pay. She won't let anyone stop her--not even the man that all of London fears. They might call Hugo Marshall the Wolf of Clermont, but even wolves can be brought to heel...

My Review:

The Governess Affair is an intriguing Victorian Romance with interesting characters. The competition between Hugo and Serena is witty and suspenseful. The contrasts between Hugo and the Duke and Serena and her older sister are well played out. One theme that is sensitively and creatively handled is Serena's ability to experience intimacy after what happened to her. This book has adult content with one sex scene within marriage, which I felt was pertinent to the story. The ending was abrupt and not satisfactory for a reader who enjoys romance!

This is what my brother said about my book:

Happy Moms, Happy Homes is a super little book and Amazon also makes it easy to give Kindle books as gifts as well. If you know anyone who reads Kindle, consider giving those friends a copy each as gifts. I have the Kindle app for PC, which is even better than a Kindle reader since my pc has a detachable screen which makes reading a breeze. Friends who don't have Kindle, let them know about the Kindle apps for PC, Android etc.

And this is his review on Amazon:

Packs a Punch in 111 Pages

"Happy Moms, Happy Homes" is a super little book of wisdom for mothers. HMHM has a positive uplifting message built on cold reality and some bitter medicine. Relevant for both Christian and Non-Christian readers, mostly females obviously, but useful for the guys too. Nowadays people like short books, just look at "Who moved my Cheese?" That book was a hit and could have been written in one paragraph, but was drawn out to about 100+ pages. Well HMHM is a lot richer than "Who Moved My Cheese?" and worthy of its 100+ pages. I predict with enough publicity it'll be a POSITIVE hit. Amazon also makes it easy to give Kindle books as gifts. (Disclaimer: the author is my sister)

3 Christian Romantic Suspense Novels and a Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #233!

What have you been reading recently? I seem to be reading eBooks faster than I can review them. Since I've been devouring so many good books, I thought to share some with you. Here are 3 Christian urban romantic suspense novels with strong female protagonists. Each of the books is the first in a series, but they can be read on their own and won't leave you hanging. I'm including my reviews below each one. Click on the titles to learn more.

Red - The New Rulebook
Christian Suspense Series Book 1

Red- The New Rulebook Christian Suspense Series- Book #1 by [Ohagwu, Joy]

My Review of Red - The New Rulebook

Red - The New Rulebook is an exciting heart pounding romantic suspense novel. Joy Ohagwu maintains the suspense level with several twists throughout the story. There is also a good dose of clean romance and a bit of science fiction. I really liked the characters of Red (aka Ruby) and her best friend Robert. They make a great team. Red turns to Robert when she's framed for murder and then hunted by the same people who committed the murder. The Christian message in the story is well presented without being contrived. I'm looking forward to more books by this author.

Always Watching
Elite Guardians Book 1

Always Watching (Elite Guardians Book #1) by [Eason, Lynette]

My Review of Always Watching

Always Watching is a well thought out romantic suspense novel. Olivia is a professional bodyguard hired to protect a radio personality named Wade from a deadly stalker. She knows her job and does it extremely well, but the stalker always seems to be a step ahead. To complicate matters, Olivia is falling for the handsome widower, Wade. Meet the Elite Guardians team and follow their adventures in this great first book in the series!

Deadly Hunt
Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations Book 1

Deadly Hunt (Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations Book 1) by [Daley, Margaret]

My Review of Deadly Hunt

Deadly Hunt has a great opening story-line. Bodyguard Tess is on vacation to relax and unwind from her last assignment. That vacation is shattered when an injured stranger stumbles into her isolated cabin in the Arizona mountains. The rest of the story is somewhat simplistic. It has some romance elements and there is a bit of action, but the plot was somewhat predictable. If you are looking for a quick read and a light-hearted romance, then you'll like this story.

Disclosure: I purchased the eBooks of Red and Always Watching from Amazon Kindle when they were on promotion. I received a free digital copy of Deadly Hunt. These are my honest reviews.

Oxygen Inc. Swimwear Review with Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #216!

This blog is best viewed in Google Chrome.
Click on the images to see them at their best.

My Review:

The first time I saw swimwear from Oxygen Inc., I knew that the designs would be flattering on a curvy figure like mine. In fact, they have a gorgeous selection of swimwear that looks good on all body types. Have a peek at their swimwear slide-show from featured clients to see for yourself!

I was impressed with the high quality of the two swimsuits that Amanda and I both received. Hers is a girl's size 10. She and I adore the cherry pattern on her swimsuit! It's super cute! Her swimsuit has extra lining in the front top section, which is really important for modesty's sake. She won't have to worry about what others can or can't see.

My playful red swimsuit with white polka-dots is a lady's size 12. I like mine because I can feel feminine and confident without revealing too much. When you put on a swimsuit you want to feel and look beautiful!

Disclosure: Amanda and I each received a beautiful swimsuit from Oxygen Inc. for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
