Today's photos are all about my wine barrel planter on my thatched-roof balcony. I also have more wine barrel planters around our drive with pink simplicity roses planted in them. It's all thanks to my mother-in-law, who gave me the planters. She also helped establish the garden with my hubby. She loves gardens and creating them. I love looking at them and, of course, taking pictures!

We spent our American 4th of July eating wood fired pizzas at a wine cellar and deli twenty minutes drive from our home in South Africa. I spotted the American flag (above) in Simon's Town near Cape Town the following day. Below are photos of our drive and visit to the wine cellar and deli at Du Toitskloof. It's worth it!

This is my garden in Spring. I love taking photos of my flowers and sharing them with you. My last few weekend posts are examples of that. I really appreciate my garden, but I'm not much of a gardener and I find gardening programs on the TV extremely boring. I love watching home shows, but I'm not much of a DIY-er either.

Here in South Africa, our kids are on their winter break right now. We have our winter months in June and July. They are also in the middle of their school year. The school term ends in December and the new school year begins in January. Over December and January they have their summer break. Our son is home from university for the holiday and we had our first family outing last Sunday to Tulbagh. Be sure to check out that post if you missed it!

Mousebirds in My Garden with #WW #Linky

This past week I saw the prettiest birds for the first time in my winter garden. Some of their neat features include blue beaks, pinkish-red feet and long tail feathers. I looked them up and they are a type of mousebird. In case you are confused why it's winter here, I need to explain that we live in South Africa and our seasons are opposite to my friends in the Northern Hemisphere. I took all these photos from Samantha's bedroom window.
