Hide it In Your Heart Coloring Calendar

Hide it In Your Heart in 2019

This 2019 calendar features a Bible verse for each week in creative fonts that can be colored in. A wide variety of holidays are listed, both traditional and unusual. (Do you know when Appreciate a Dragon Day is? How about Lost Sock Memorial Day?) You’ll have plenty of room to record your activities and appointments in the section for each day and week. After every month, you’ll find word puzzles featuring key words from that month's scriptures and holidays.

Prepare for a year full of coloring and fun that will help you hide God's Word in your heart in 2019 without even trying!

My Review

Hide it In Your Heart is a unique coloring calendar created by Annie Douglass Lima. There are 53 Bible verses and 24 word puzzles for adults and kids. We found the pages lots of fun to color and there's a variety of pictures to choose from. Some of the details in my picture were almost too fine, making it more challenging than I had expected. Other pictures have less details for the younger ones. Amanda's page was perfect for a 10-year-old and Samantha (age 18) loved her sea themed one! I recommend this calendar for the family. It will brighten your year!

Disclosure: I received a digital copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Here's a peek at some sample pages!
(In the actual calendar, each page is 8 1/2" x 11".)

Celebrate Earth Day and a Linky

If you're a teacher or a parent, then you'll find several helpful links and videos here for making kids aware of the importance of Earth Day and looking after our planet. This year Earth Day will be celebrated on Sunday April 22nd. The free rhyming picture book "Think Green! Think Green!" on Amazon Kindle is for a limited time, so grab it now before the sale ends!

I also have a link below the YouTube videos on what the Bible says about creation and earth care. This link provides some good Bible study content. It offers plenty of verses, which are organized under headings like "God's Relation with Creation" and "Humans' Relation with Creation."

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Pretty Homes in South Africa with Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #208!

My series of photos today are of pretty South African homes and home security. I don't have a photo of the front of my home, but I have included a link at the end of this section, before the book blast and book review.

Many of my readers know that last year we were burgled while we slept. It wasn't a nice feeling waking up in the morning and finding out that someone was in our house. Besides losing many valuable electronics, what bothered me the most was knowing that our girls were in harms way. For that reason, a few months later I got a bigger dog. Our girls named him Koda and you can learn more about him on my post, Adopting an Adult Dog.

Towards the end of last year, we also put burglar bars in the windows that are accessible. These ones are made of Plexiglas. On the same day the burglar bars were being installed, we were outside hanging up the laundry on the washing line and heard two gunshots being fired. My husband jumped into his car and drove down our street to find out what had happened. A man had been trying to pry his way through burglar bars on a neighbor's property in broad daylight and the owner of the house spotted him and shot twice, presumably in the air. Other neighbors responded quickly and together managed to corner the man.

Dogs and burglar bars do not stop all crime. We also pray every morning and at night for our safety. "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain" (Psalm 127:1 NIV).

Poem - My Home

Let my home be a safe haven
One to be counted among the best
May its walls build hope and the floors mercy
And may its rooms offer peace and rest

May its roof be a symbol of protection
May its ceilings teach us Your ways
And may the gates stand for honor
Together adding joy to our days

21st Anniversary with Weekend #Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #182!

I'm sorry that I missed posting my weekend linky party last Friday. I'm also behind on answering comments, but I have been reading them and really appreciate them.

We had a full house last weekend with my son visiting from university and my mother-in-law also staying over. Our kids are all back at school and university. The break they had was their winter break and now they have begun term 3.

In winter, we get some sunny days and the other days are cold and rainy. It's nice living in a Mediterranean climate here in South Africa in the Western Cape! I don't miss winter in the States or Germany.

My big announcement is that Hubby (Robbie) and I are celebrating our 21st anniversary today!  We have made it this far, we have gotten past the worst (the first few years had some rocky moments), and I'm looking forward to the next 21+ years. We have been involved in Christian ministry for most of that time. In fact, we met on the mission field.

This past year, Robbie has been volunteering twice a week in a pastoral capacity at a Christian drug rehab farm just outside of town. I visited for my first time on Sunday and I brought the Sunday message, which was based on Luke 16:10, "Whoever can be trusted with small things can also be trusted with big things. Whoever is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in big things too" (Easy-to-Read Version).

There was such a great atmosphere among the guys and afterwards they thanked me for the message, but I don't know who had more fun, me or them? Anthony Hall, the guy who runs the place, used to be an alcoholic and drug addict too. He lost his job, his family, everything. Now he and his wife, Karin, help others at R.A.E.L (Recovering Addicts Empowering Lives), which they founded in 2007.

My Friend's Fundraiser with #LinkyParty

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #178!

Today I want to introduce you to a friend of ours whom we met at Youth With A Mission (YWAM), South Africa, a few years ago. She's now living in Portland, Oregon, as a full-time missionary and we still keep in touch. Her name is Portia and she's got a fundraiser on the go. She explains it best, so keep on reading!

From Portia
I am passionate about seeing positive change come to the lives of the most vulnerable in society. Since joining the team at Loom International, where we work with a wide range of different community development projects aimed at vulnerable women and children, I have become aware that my earlier training is not enough. Granted, I have had the privilege of using my accounting knowledge here and on the field (I studied accounting before I became a missionary), I find that by and large I am handling issues that I am ill-equipped for.

That is why I am now pursuing an MA in Global Development and Justice. This MA is perfectly suited to what I am doing and what I hope to pursue in the future. Please sponsor me as I seek to raise $10,000 towards my tuition fees. I am slowly building stamina for my sponsored 10k run (July 23rd - Sunset on the Springwater). I will still work full-time and study part-time. Finally, it may interest you to know that I have the full support of Loom International.

What is Loom International?
Loom International brings people, resources, training and information together for the benefit of women and children at risk. We are committed to bring change by working with others in hope and interdependence.

I received this book for my birthday in March and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I've already shared some photos of the pages that I've colored on my blog. I was even asked where to buy it. I figured that it was time to give a review!

My Review

There are several reasons why Inspirational Coloring for Mom will make a great gift for moms this Mother's Day.

Firstly, it comes as a spiral hardcover book. The spiral binding allows you to turn the pages with ease. This eliminates the need to bend the book open to reach the spots along the inside spine.

Secondly, the outside hardcover works like a table surface, so you can take it anywhere and color without difficulty. This works especially well for me, because I like to color on my lap.

Thirdly, the beautiful illustrations come with fun and inspirational messages for Mom. They are the perfect encouragement to my day.

Fourthly, the pages are perforated, so you can remove them and give them away as gifts. Or, you can frame them and hang them up to decorate your home.

Fifthly, besides the full-sized illustrations, there are also cards, bookmarks, and gift tags to color at the back of the book. This offers more variety to what you can do with your coloring creations.
