National Women's Day and a #Linky

Today is National Women's Day in South Africa. 20,000 women from all over the country held a peaceful march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria on August 9, 1956. They were protesting the "pass" system, which hindered the freedom of movement during apartheid. It was lead by Lilian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph, Albertina Sisulu and Sophia Williams-De Bruyn. These four women bravely handed bundles of petitions with 100,000 signatures over to the offices of the Prime Minister. This display of female solidarity is a reminder of the great women who helped mold South Africa and the women who continue to do so.

Hi Emily! I like your "Play Caption This" and think it's a great idea. I love blogging because I get to capture more moments of life with our kids and our pets this way. I am now following you on Twitter and saw your Tweet about losing a child. I cried! You have to be a very strong person to keep on going after such an unexpected tragedy. I know it's not fair and I know that you miss him terribly. All I can think of is that he lived life - he lived a good life - and he has no regrets. I hope this will help your tormented thoughts, if or when you have them. I wish that I could give you a hug. I'm glad you have supportive friends and family. Sending a prayer your way!
