The Winter Rain and a Weekend Linky

Welcome to my weekend blog hop -
Make My Saturday Sweet #227!

We've been having drought and now the winter rain has finally come! Our winter kicked off with a massive storm. I took these photos of the wild guineafowl and peacock wandering through our front garden one rainy day soon after the storm. I'm amazed at how well the birds coped. We even had hail!

You can see in the first two photos how our garden fared after months of water restrictions. Most of the grass is gone and some plants didn't survive. The other photos were taken a couple of years ago when our garden wasn't suffering. I also included one of my poems below.

From Waste Places to Gardens of Joy

Once I was destitute, a captive of sin,
But then You gave me life and dwelled within.
You took my waste places, You took my tears,
You took my heartaches, and all my fears.

You took that pot, which was made of clay,
You took all of my darkness and made it day.
Then gave me wings, made me into a silver dove
With yellow-gold feathers, covered in Your love.

You gave me rivers and gardens of joy;
Things more precious than some material toy.
You gave me gladness and also thanksgiving
And filled my heart with continual singing.

In light of all this, what can I give back in return?
Worship and obedience from a love that is firm.

Wow, that's a lot of peacocks! My first house sometimes had peacocks visit in the yard, but only one at a time. Have a great weekend!
What a beautiful poem, Tina :) SO true! And you remind me of the fact that your seasons are opposite of ours and the difference between what we might find wandering through our front yards! Certainly not peacocks! We have to go to the zoo to see them. As always, stunning photos and I can't believe how "grown" your daughter looks. Beautiful :)

Love the poem and the peacocks. Hope the rain isn't too bad.

Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful weekend.
Yay for the rain..as long as its not damaging and is just replenishing what you need. We were in a major drought for most of last summer and it took til about half through the winter to finally recover.

Thanks for hosting :)
Beautiful Poem!!!
Always fab photos, love the peacocks, and for rain, we are wishing to cool down our 112-116 temps.
Thanks for hosting and for stopping by to share your post!
Have a great weekend! :)
Your poem sounds like the end of a drought as well. Thanks for sharing it along with your photos.
Your yard looks so beautiful. Winter rains for you and humid Summer here in South Carolina. Thank you for the link up. I've shared a new children's devotional for children that a friend of mine just released. It is fabulous!
