Make My Saturday Sweet - Blog Hop #25

Today I'm joining the Five Minute Friday writing prompt over at
Lisa-Jo Baker's blog. This time I set a timer, so I didn't go over.

Bare
When I think of the word “bare,” I think of honesty with nothing hidden. To be bare is to be your true you. You are not ashamed of  who you are. Your character, personality and values make you strong and able to be a shoulder for others to lean on. You can laugh and cry with others. You can celebrate with others and not be jealous, because everyone needs a moment to shine and perhaps this was not your moment. You are a true friend who speaks your mind in love. You are not a doormat for others to walk on. You are bare and you are proud of who you are.

Our Lost Kitten was Found!

Our kitten resting after his long ordeal
I am so happy to announce that our lost kitten was found! Thank you to everyone who prayed and/or wished us well during this very difficult time. She was not being pampered at another home as we had hoped. She was lost in the veld (a large area of grassland near our home). Tabitha is so friendly and trusting that she had followed homeless people into this untamed area. Hubby handed out pictures of her and offered money if they found her. He walked the veld, but had no idea which way she had gone.

where our kitten was found

Thursday morning, two hikers from our neighborhood were on a morning walk near the airfield and heard meowing. She came right up to them, of course, and they realized that she needed help and took her home where they gave her cat food and water. She ate all the food and drank half the bowl of water. Then they took her to the SPCA and we soon got the phone call that our kitten had been found.

Sheela and Prince playing

She was underweight, full of flees and her collar was missing. The most shocking news of all was that our female kitten was not a female, but a male. When we adopted him from the SPCA, we were told that it was a girl. Now Tabitha has a new collar and a new name, Prince! We've ordered tags for both our kitties too with their names and a contact number. I hope Sheela doesn't give us a surprise and turn out to be a boy too, because then we'll have to change her name and order a new tag!

Sheela and Prince taking a break

Both kittens are getting along well. It took Sheela about a day or two to not be afraid of Prince. Now they play together, which is really cute. Sometimes it gets a little rough, and we try to break them up.

Amanda is so happy to have Prince back home. She loves cuddling with him. Sheela allows us to pet her a little, but she's still a bit wild.

Now we are one big happy family!

Animals for Adoption

Many of you know that we have been looking and praying for our lost kitten, Tabitha. In the meantime, we went ahead and got another kitten. You can see photos and read about her on my post, "A New Kitten."

One of the places we went in search of Tabitha was at the SPCA where she was originally from. I took these photos of their latest canine strays that are waiting for good homes. I didn't have time to get pictures of the cats and kittens, and there were plenty of kittens. I hope these pictures will inspire you to check out your local animal shelter and to consider adopting.

You can link your own picture posts on my linky below.

Can see you see the dark lump against the back wall of the picture above?
I zoomed in with my camera and took this picture below.

A New Kitten

We have been so sad not having a kitten in the house, that we adopted another one yesterday. The lady had three kittens and was giving two of them away. We got the last one. We've named her Sheela and it means "musical." Amanda came up with the name all on her own and Samantha decided on the spelling of it after looking it up in my baby name book.

Our new kitten has had her vaccinations and de-worming medication, but she's not used to people. She's a bit wild, which is not what we were expecting. However, she's very cute and we all love her. Since she is a bit scared, we decided to make her a little home inside a box, a place to feel safe.

These first two photos of her were taken yesterday evening outside. She climbed onto our windowsill after climbing halfway up a tree. She seems to like it there, because she went back there today. The third photo is of her little make-shift home inside our house.

We are still hoping and praying that Tabitha will return home to us.

Make My Saturday Sweet - Blog Hop #24

Everyone at our home is sad. Tabitha, the kitten, has been missing since Tuesday 22 Jan. 2013. Every morning and evening we've gone on walks looking for her and calling her name. I also phoned the SPCA on the second day that she didn't come home, but she hasn't been picked up or brought in.

Today we put up posters with her picture and our contact info. at the SPCA, the vets, pet shops, and the main grocery stores with community boards. We also placed some flyers in mailboxes. We want to do more tomorrow, but we're tired and sad. So sad.

Amanda said that it feels like we're not a family anymore! She misses her friend. The kitten spent lots of time with Amanda, even visiting her at almost every bath time. It was really cute. Life without Tabitha is just not the same!

We've been praying too. We'd appreciate any prayers from our online community.

By the way, it's summer here in South Africa, so she's not freezing. In case some of you were wondering.

Picture Perfect Party Linky #24

This has been a rough few days for at least three of us. I've been sick. Some of you might have seen my message on my Facebook page. Monday morning I went to see the doctor and she said I didn't look too good. It's nothing serious, only my stomach felt terrible for days, I also had a cold and fever. So, with some simple medication and antibiotics, I am on the mend.

Samantha's kitten, Tabitha, had her own ordeal. One night she didn't come home. Early the next morning our neighbor saw Samantha calling for it and showed her a kitten in their lemon tree. They passed Hubby a ladder and he brought a very unhappy kitten out of the tree. This photo was taken of her sleeping soon after being safely rescued.

This past week, Amanda has been sleeping in Jessica's room and sharing her big sister's double bed with her. She likes it there and doesn't want to go back to her bed. Even after this happened...

That is what happens when a four year-old climbs out of bed in the morning and a fourteen year-old has momentarily placed her hot curling iron on the carpet. Thankfully, I arrived immediately on the scene and quickly applied wet ice wrapped in paper towel, because Jessica didn't realize how bad it was. Amanda is doing well.

So, that has been our week. I'm sorry if you've left me a comment in the past few days and I haven't replied. I'll try my best.
