Wild Guinea Fowl with #WW Linky

Welcome to my Picture Perfect
Party Linky #94!

We see flocks of guinea fowl around our home every day. They are very skittish creatures, so whenever I grab a camera, they scatter off. It's hard to get a good picture of a subject that doesn't stand still. These are the best ones I have of this year.

Guinea Fowl tend to be in big families, but the albino and dark one stick together and don't seem to have a bigger family. I've observed them about three times in our neighborhood and they are always together. I'm glad that they have each other.

Look at them all! They look like what we call turkeys here in the US
They are beautiful. We have ducks that walk around our neighborhood, but not as many. I am glad the dark one and the albino one are together. People can learn a lot from animals.

I loved seeing the different birds here in your part of the world and always amazes me to see those that frequent other parts of the world. Like when we went to the Bahamas on our honeymoon definitely got to see some new and different species of birds :)

Neat! And, it's nicer to see them in their natural habitat than in a zoo. I love zoos too, as long as the animals are well cared for. :)

Sadly I had only seen these on a plate before. They are nice looking birds.

They are also a nuisance, but I still like them. They look better on plates and in paintings. :)

Considering the don't stand still, i think you did pretty good. It so nice to take a look at different creatures of nature and sometimes even admire their ways of living.

Lovely photos, I don't think I've ever seen or heard of this bird but the feather looks beautiful. We have lots of ducks and geese roaming around in our neighborhood. Thanks for the party and now following on Pinterest!

Thanks for the follow! My opinion is that the guinea fowl are always in fashion, because of their black and white feathers. :)

Great pics. I would have really enjoyed seeing them in person.
How special to get to see a whole group! And that's cool you can tell the albino one has a mate and that they stick together!

Have a great day Tina!

Love your photos!
Hubby and I both had these growing up - but not wild, very carefully raised. You had to find the eggs and then put them under a chicken to set them or use an incubator. We always got our eggs from someone else rather than finding a nest. Our dads loved them for bugs and scrambled eggs, but it was hard to keep the flocks big enough. Ours were so stupid :) that I always wondered how they survived in the wild. Ours looked exactly the same (pretty feathers, ugly heads!) but they must have changed some, because ours were NOT skittish. So being skittish must be how the wild ones survive!

How interesting! They are a protected species in South Africa and I heard that they have worms, so the meat is not good to eat anyway. I also heard that when the meat is cooked, it stinks. I never thought about eating the eggs. Of course, I like eating free range chicken eggs that don't have an embryo inside. :) And, I agree with you that being skittish is what keeps them alive in the wild. They spend a lot of the time moving around on the ground, but they certainly can fly (except for the little ones).
