Old and New Disney Books of Fairy Tales

Disney Nursery Rhymes & Fairy Tales
and Walt Disney’s Giant Book of Fairy Tales

When I was young, books were not a big part of my life, perhaps because I first learned to read in German. I only learned to read in my first language of English when I was in 4th grade, but only very poorly. In 5th grade the spelling of English words began to make sense. By the time I was in 6th grade, I loved reading.

Walt Disney’s Giant Book of Fairy Tales
My kids have grown up with books. They all love to read. I consider myself very fortunate that they do. Amanda isn’t old enough to read, but she has a small library of children’s books passed on from me and her siblings. Often, when I pick Amanda up from school (she’s in a playgroup), she will be sitting in the book section looking at a book. It’s really cute.

Walt Disney’s Giant Book of Fairy Tales
I thought it would be fun to share about an old book, Walt Disney’s Giant Book of Fairy Tales, from my childhood and a new book, Disney Nursery Rhymes & Fairy Tales, from Amanda’s 4th birthday. My book is roughly 31 years old. Amanda got her book this year.

There are 188 pages with 39 stories in my book beginning with Pinocchio and ending with Snow-White and Rose-Red. These stories are very entertaining and intriguing for children who are old enough to read. I’ve enjoyed them and my two older daughters have too. It’s the larger book of the two with more advanced stories, which makes it more suitable for older children.

Disney Nursery Rhymes & Fairy Tales
Amanda’s book has 303 pages with 14 stories and many nursery rhymes. It’s a big book, but not too big for my 4-year-old. She is able to carry it around and turn its pages without needing help. The Table of Contents is brilliant, because it includes thumbnail pictures next to the titles to help little ones identify which story they would like to have read to them. Amanda uses this system regularly when choosing a story. The stories are short enough and easy to follow. She also loves nursery rhymes, so that has been a great addition to this book. The Disney Nursery Rhymes & Fairy Tales is a wonderful gift for young children and it even comes with 200 stickers inside.

Love this! The love of reading is such a great thing - It's wonderful that your daughter has a favorite book to sit with and escape into.

I love your back story. We lived in a rural area where we didn't even have a library! What we did have (eventually) was the ability to order books from the Big City's library. They would send a paper list and you would check off up to 6 books that you wanted and then they would mail them to you in a big green canvas bag. I LOVED it when that bag showed up! For better or worse, the Disney stories are classics and what a great idea to have the more popular ones in one book! Look how excited your daughter is! <3

Thank you so much for creating (twice) this post and linking it to the Kid Lit Blog Hop. I already follow you via email, Pinterest, and all the others. Cheers! :D

Thanks Renee! I can't imagine what you did after you had finished your 6 books. I took Amanda, Samantha and Jeremiah to the library today because Samantha had been wanting desperately to get more books to read. She brings home books from her school library, but she goes through them too fast. Today she brought home 12 books and plans to have them read in 2 weeks. Maybe she should be doing book reviews! :)
What I did was probably drive my mother completely crazy! lol 12 BOOKS!!! That is alot - you have quite the little bookworm there (lucky you, well us actually!) I'll just throw this out there as an idea, but I do have a regular feature on Fridays where I have guest reviewers doing book reviews with on of their kids for our site. In exchange I do a short feature post about their blog. I have one coming out tomorrow and I'm currently booking for November if you and one of your daughter would be interested. Let me know! Glad we connected Tina! :-)
Now that sounds interesting! I think one of them would certainly be able to do that. Is the review on a book that you choose or one that my daughter chooses? If it's her, then how will we know if the book hasn't already been done before on your blog? Looking forward to learning more about it! I'll definitely check out tomorrow's post to get a better understanding.
Hi Tina, You can choose whatever book you like. If you are interested, you can choose a book and I can let you know if we've reviewed it or you can look on the website - they are listed alphabetically there. Check out today's post and let me know, ok? Have a wonderful weekend :-)
Reading was my passion when I was young, and I still love it today. Thankfully my little one loves it too, so I get to revisit the books of my youth and learn some new ones too. :)
Your baby girl is beautiful! She looks a lot like my great-niece when she was little. Reading has always been an integral part of my life, and no doubt helped me along the path to becoming an author. I was 7 when I began dreaming of being an author. It took me 40 years to get all the way to that dream, but I'm here now, and will never leave willingly. I read voraciously. Now I love reading the book I wrote "Benjamin Bear's Naughtiest Night Ever!" to kids. It never ceases to amaze me how many great books are out there for kids. I hope to continue adding to that grand total. Thanks for linking in to the Kid Lit Blog Hop! Read on Amanda! It will enrich your entire life!

Thanks for this encouraging comment! I have followed a bit about your book with Facebook and your blog. I hope it gets the advertising it needs and will pray for you for that. I wanted to write a book (fiction) since I was around 11 years old. I ended up self-publishing a non-fiction book (and now blogging it) and hope to continue writing too. You can check out my blog based on my e-book at http://happymomshappyhomes.blogspot.com
